Saalbach-Hinterglemm is located at 1050 meters above sea level, at the heart of the "Skicircus Saalbach" ski region. Through its impressive 270 kms of ski slopes, "Skicircus Saalbach" connects all 5 main villages in the region: Saalbach, Hinterglemm, Leogang and Fieberbrunn and Vorderglemm.

Saalbach and Hinterglemm have converged over the years, but are still 2 separate villages. Saalbach has a car-free center and there is a vibrant atmosphere. Saalbach-Hinterglemm also features 6 and 8-man chairlifts with heated seats and retractable covers for use in bad weather.

For tourists travelling by plane it is only a short transfer to the ski resort from Salzburg Airport.
